Dig Deep Brewing (Cumberland, MD) officially opened September 13, 2019. Located in the heart of Cumberland in the historic Footer Dye Works Building, they are conveniently located with easy access to recreational attractions such as the C&O Canal and the Great Allegheny Passage trail (Cumberland to Pittsburgh). I dropped in for a pint and had a chance to talk with Robert Dettinburn, Marcus Rowley, and Lydia Savramis.

Dig Deep brews a variety of beer styles from IPAs, sours, an English pub ale, to Belgian-styles and lagers. They are particularly proud of their authentic tasting hefeweizen. They shared a story about a group of Germans that happened into the taproom. They were so impressed by the Dig Deep hefeweizen and how authentic it tasted. Now they have a motto for this beer, “Maryland Made - German Approved”.
Outdoor music events helped keep them open during the COVID shutdown. They continue live outdoor music with our rotating schedule of food trucks on Friday and Saturday Nights. The music event lineup can be found online with a healthy mix of contemporary and traditional music styles.
Business has been good and they are planning on expanding in 2022 to offer a wider distribution area for their beer.

The Dig Deep Founders Club is was started in 2019 to help foster a community of craft beer lovers in the pub. They sold out their 2021 memberships and currently have a waiting list for next year. “The members of the Founders Club and the community at large really stepped up during the last year to help ensure our long term success and we are forever grateful.”
